EndSARS Memorial 2022
๐ ๐
It started with an hashtag #EndSARS
It was peaceful.
It was a call to end police brutality in Nigeria.
It was a peaceful protest to sanitize the police force.
It was the voice of the oppressed.
It was real, organic and sincere.
It united us, it brought Muslims, Christians, Pagans together for a cause.
It was all about holding the government accountable and demand for justice.
It was not meant to topple the government.
It stirred the world and evoked a new socio-political awareness.
It was a transnational movement.
I have been a victim of police brutality.
I have listened to the stories of victims.
It was a call to see for a better welfare for the police.
It was a rare opportunity for the government to listen and act according to the demands of its citizens.
It revealed the true character of the government
It was from this point that the trust deficit between the government and the youths heightened.
We called for EndSARS but sadly innocent lives were ended.
It is a day WE WILL NEVER FORGET. โ๐พ
However, it has forever influenced the political terrain of the country and will largely impact the 2023 polls.
